17 North Parade, a division of VP Records, in collaboration with Harmony House, will reissue Beres Hammond’s Just A Man on November 28, 2024, exclusively for Record Store Day Black Friday. This limited-edition U.S. release features a newly remastered colored vinyl with the original “Rolls Royce” cover art, making it a highly collectible item for fans. Known as a gem within the Rare Groove circuit, Just A Man is prized among collectors, with original copies scarce and highly sought after. Originally released by Joe Gibbs, the album showcases Hammond’s early versatility, blending Reggae with elements of funk, R&B, and disco. Produced by Hammond alongside Willie Lindo and Ivor Lindo, each track bears a distinct touch, especially standouts like “Do This World a Favour” and “Keep My Wheel Turning,” celebrated 2-step classics within the Funk & Soul scene.

With a career spanning over 40 years, Hammond is celebrated as one of Reggae’s most beloved voices, known for timeless hits such as “Rock Away” and “They Gonna Talk.” His influence on Reggae and lovers rock is immense, further honored by the Order of Jamaica and an honorary doctorate from the University of the West Indies. Just A Man offers a unique glimpse into Hammond’s early musical experimentation, capturing his drive to explore new genres.

Featuring a lineup of renowned musicians—including Val Douglas on bass, Mikey Chung on guitar, Dean Fraser and Clive Hunt on horns, Harold Butler and Robbie Lyn on keyboards, and Pam Hall on backing vocals—this remastered release revitalizes the album’s intricate arrangements, amplifying Hammond’s initial artistic vision. Just A Man will be available on November 28, 2024, at participating Record Store Day Black Friday locations across the U.S.
