Labor Day Weekend in New York, home to the annual West Indian-American Day Carnival Parade—the world's largest celebration of Caribbean cultures—will feature a special reggae performance this year. Reggae Ambassadors Third World are set to perform on Labor Day Saturday, Sept. 2, at the Westchester Reggae Festival, held at the Westchester County Center in White Plains.
Joining them on stage will be renowned singers Luciano and Mikey Spice, both accompanied by Derrick Barnett & The Statement Band.
Third World, fronted by lead singer AJ Brown, stands as one of Jamaica’s most beloved crossover reggae acts. With 10 GRAMMY nominations and a repertoire of hits like “Now That We Found Love,” “96 Degrees in the Shade,” and “Try Jah Love,” the group has captivated audiences worldwide for the past 50 years.
“We are still around. That was the mission,” said founding member Stephen “Cat” Coore in a recent radio interview with host Ras Clem in New York.
