Reggae legend Beres Hammond has achieved a historic milestone in his celebrated career, earning his first-ever music certification. On April 3, the British Phonographic Industry (BPI) awarded a Silver Certification to Can’t Stop A Man: The Ultimate Collection, recognizing more than 60,000 units in combined digital sales and streaming equivalents in the United Kingdom.
Released by VP Records in 2003, the 39-track compilation showcases some of Hammond’s greatest hits from the 1970s through the early 2000s, highlighting a remarkable catalog that has stood the test of time and continues to resonate with audiences worldwide.
Reflecting on the achievement, Hammond expressed gratitude for the continued support of his fans across multiple generations.
“I am greatly humbled that all generations enjoy my music. Everyone knows my music is universal and appreciated by all,” Hammond said.
The acclaimed collection opens with Hammond’s 1977 No. 1 soul hit “One Step Ahead,” produced by Willie Lindo. The album also features an impressive lineup of chart-topping classics including “Groovy Little Thing,” “What One Dance Can Do,” “She Loves Me Now,” “Tempted to Touch,” “Putting Up Resistance,” “Rock Away,” “They Gonna Talk,” “Come Down Father,” “Full Attention,” “Who Say” (featuring Buju Banton), “Double Trouble,” “Step Aside,” “Love Means Never to Say I’m Sorry,” and “No Disturb Sign.”
A longtime favorite among UK audiences, Hammond acknowledged the special connection he shares with fans across the Atlantic.
“My fan base in the United Kingdom is enormous. I am grateful to my family as I connect with my fans whom I love as family,” he said.
Hammond will return to the UK stage on May 25 as part of the City Splash Festival at Brockwell Park in Brixton, one of the country’s premier celebrations of Caribbean music and culture.
Following his UK appearance, Beres Hammond will bring his signature sound and timeless catalog to audiences across the United States with a series of highly anticipated performances produced by Jammins Events.
