The major charity event — spearheaded by Grammy Award–winning superstar Shaggy — will take place on December 12 at UBS Arena in New York City. All proceeds will go directly toward rebuilding communities impacted by Hurricane Melissa.
Richie Stephens opened his message with warmth and sincerity, reminding supporters that this concert is more than entertainment — it is a lifeline for the people of Jamaica.
“Greetings with a smile. This is Richie Stephens. Right now, it’s all about the 12th of December, UBS Arena in New York City. Big charity concert to benefit Jamaica.”
He expressed deep admiration for Shaggy, who is leading the initiative with the consistency and integrity that have defined his philanthropic work for decades.
“This concert will be spearheaded by Shaggy — an artist that I truly love and respect for his philanthropic work… and what I love is his consistency.”

Richie Stephens’ support comes from a deeply personal place. He shared that he recently returned to his home parish, Westmoreland, where he was part of a relief effort delivering essential supplies.
“I was personally on the ground… delivering basic supplies — food, medical supplies, and all those things. I personally took a look at the devastation in my hometown. Trust me, it was terrible.”
The destruction he described underscores why the Jamaica Strong mission is so urgent — families have lost homes, farmers have lost livelihoods, and entire communities are struggling to rebuild.
With genuine emotion, Stephens made a direct appeal to the diaspora and supporters worldwide:
“I’m reaching out to you, appealing to you as publics, to truly support this major event. Every money earned will be going to Jamaica for rebuilding this beautiful island of ours.”
He closed his message with a simple, heartfelt call:
“We want to see you come out and support this place.”
