The Jamaican community across New York and the wider diaspora is mourning the passing of Alsion Roach-Wilson, CD, Jamaica’s Consul General to New York. She passed away peacefully at her home on Saturday. The news was confirmed by Senator the Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith, Minister of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, who commended Roach-Wilson for her “highest level of excellence” in service since assuming office in July 2019.
Alsion Roach-Wilson served with distinction as the head of Jamaica’s largest overseas consular mission, representing New York, New Jersey, Connecticut, and several northeastern states. Known for her warm spirit and proactive leadership, she was deeply respected for championing the interests of Jamaicans abroad.
Throughout her tenure, Roach-Wilson pushed forward initiatives aimed at streamlining consular services, strengthening trade and investment opportunities, and enhancing cultural diplomacy.
