The dancehall veteran reconnects with fans during a spirited performance at one of the Caribbean’s signature cultural celebrations.
Capleton brought his unmistakable energy to Dominica’s World Creole Music Festival on Friday, October 23, 2026, delivering an opening-night performance at Windsor Park Sports Stadium in Roseau. The appearance reunited the Jamaican entertainer with an audience that had waited years to experience his stage presence again.
According to The Jamaica Star, the performance marked Capleton’s first in Dominica in 20 years. The artist, widely known as “The Fireman,” received an enthusiastic welcome as fans joined in with familiar lyrics and responded to the intensity of his delivery. His set also introduced newer material, including “Heights of Fire.”
An on-the-ground report from SKNVibes described a performer in constant motion—jumping, kicking and dancing across the stage as the crowd cheered and raised their hands. Even passing rain showers failed to interrupt the atmosphere. The performance demonstrated the physical energy that continues to define Capleton’s live shows.
For Capleton, the audience’s response made the reunion especially rewarding.
“I enjoyed it so much because I could see that the people were very happy,” he told The Jamaica Star. He also spoke warmly about Dominica’s similarities to Jamaica, pointing to familiar fruits and expressing admiration for the development he observed on the island.
The long absence, he explained, came down to scheduling. Previous invitations had conflicted with other performances and professional commitments. Despite the gap between appearances, he emphasized his appreciation for Dominican fans and their continued support.
His return formed part of a broader celebration of Caribbean music. Fellow Jamaican artist Skillibeng also performed on opening night, bringing another generation of dancehall to the festival. The evening featured Dominica’s Colton T and Midnight Groovers, Martinique’s Maurane Voyer, Haiti’s Klass, and other regional performers. Together, the acts represented a mix of dancehall, cadence-lypso, shatta, kompa and bouyon.
Held from October 23–25, the 2026 World Creole Music Festival brought three nights of performances to Roseau during Dominica’s independence season. The event celebrates Creole music and culture while providing a meeting place for local, regional and international artists and audiences.
Capleton’s appearance gave that celebration a memorable reunion. The audience participation and his energetic delivery offered a reminder of the lasting relationship artists can build with listeners across the Caribbean—and how quickly that connection can come alive again when the music starts.
Following his celebrated return to Dominica, Capleton will bring his fiery stage presence to New Jersey on Friday, November 27, 2026, for a special Thanksgiving weekend concert at the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC) in Newark. He will share the stage with reggae favorite Tarrus Riley as part of the RoadBlock Radio Concert Series, treating fans to an evening of dancehall energy and soulful reggae. The concert takes place in Prudential Hall at 8 p.m.
Doors open at 7 p.m., giving fans time to settle in for a holiday weekend celebration with “The Fireman” and “Mr. Singy Singy.” Tickets are available through NJPAC.org and Ticketmaster.
