
International reggae superstar Tarrus Riley received a prestigious civic honor from the City of Lauderdale Lakes, Florida. Specifically, city officials officially proclaimed June 5, 2026, as “Tarrus Riley Day” to honor his remarkable career.
Mayor Veronica Edwards Phillips presented this prestigious recognition during the 2026 Caribbean American Unity Fest. Consequently, Riley delivered an electric headline performance before thousands of attendees. The crowd celebrated both Caribbean entertainment news and the newly established Tarrus Riley Day.

On behalf of the Lauderdale Lakes City Commission, Mayor Edwards Phillips presented the official proclamation. She praised Riley’s outstanding contributions to reggae music news, cultural preservation, and philanthropy.

Born Omar Tarrus Riley in The Bronx, New York, the artist grew up in Jamaica. From an early age, he developed a deep connection to reggae music.
He inherited a rich musical legacy as the son of legendary reggae vocalist Jimmy Riley. Ultimately, this heritage helped shape his journey into becoming one of reggae’s most respected contemporary artists.
Since releasing his debut album Challenges in 2004, Riley has built an impressive catalog. In addition, his work seamlessly blends roots reggae, lovers rock, and socially conscious themes.
